Bajaj Chetak electric scooter sales – Why is it popular?
As per the sales data released by Bajaj, its Chetak EV scooter has become the top-selling product in the segment for the final quarter of the previous fiscal year.
The Pune-based two-wheeler maker has managed to sell more than 2 lakh Chetak scooters in 2024 itself, hence, breaking all the previous sales records.
With these sales figures, Chetak currently owns 29 per cent of the total market share among electric scooter sales. Moreover, in Maharashtra, which is the biggest EV market in India currently, the brand owns 50 per cent market share.
Additionally, the availability of its new variants – 29 Series and 35 Series- has proven beneficial for boosting sales overall. Bajaj has recently introduced floorboard-integrated 3.5 kWh batteries, which offer up to a 153 km range.
Speaking of the bi-fuel CNG sales, Bajaj has 28 per cent market share among the two-wheeler and three-wheeler CNG segments. The launch of Bajaj Freedom CNG has been beneficial for the overall CNG segment sales.
Upcoming electric three-wheelers
As of now, Bajaj is developing new three-wheeler EVs that are affordable and practical with long-range. In February, Bajaj introduced its first electric three-wheeler range with a new brand called GoGo.
Moreover, a narrow and cheaper Bajaj electric auto-rickshaw test mule was spied in Jammu recently. This indicates the future launch of more affordable electric three-wheelers.
