Audi could be planning to launch the A3 sedan and the Q3 SUV in the Indian market. The second-generation A3 sedan will compete with the newly launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine in the Indian market. On the other hand, the Q3 will be positioned above the Q2 and competes with the BMW X1 in the Indian market.
While details of the launch are still unknown, rumours are that the brand will be bringing the A3 sedan and the Q3 SUV in 2022. The cars are already on sale in the international market, and both feature the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
Audi A3 Engine Specifications
The Audi A3 sedan comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 150 Hp of power. The engine comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed S Tronic automatic. In the international market, Audi also offers a 48V mild-hybrid system on the S-Tronic variant. This mild-hybrid system adds 50 Nm of torque on demand.
The MHEV also receives efficiency features such as cylinder on-demand and coasting with the engine turned off. Audi also offers a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine with 150 ps of output matched to a shift-by-wire 7-Speed S Tronic transmission in the international market. But the brand is not likely to bring this diesel-powered engine to the Indian market.
Audi A3 Features
Audi has also worked extensively in the aerodynamics department of the A3 Sedan. The A3 comes with a coefficient of drag, Cd value of 0.25, which is 0.04 Cd points better than the predecessor. The sedan achieves aerodynamic efficiency by two electrically actuated louvres behind the single-frame grille. These louvres open only to cool the engine. The car also comes with active brake cooling that reduces the air resistance, a large diffuser, panelled underbody and aerodynamic ORVMs.
Audi Q3
The Audi Q3 comes with three petrol engine options with various states of tune between 150 PS to 230 PS. The Q3 also comes with the latest-generation design and styling. The SUV retains its progressive roofline and a Singleframe grille in octagonal design. The fascia also comes with side air inlets and sharply contoured tail lights. The Q3 measures 4,485mm in length and 1,849mm in width. The SUV offers 675 litres of boot space.
