Written by Nizam Shaikh

At the Shanghai Auto Show, 2021 Audi revealed the new A7L. The L in the moniker refers to the long wheelbase of the sedan. The Audi A7L is developed in a joint venture with SAIC in China. The long-wheelbase sedan is now 98mm longer than the Sportback and the ‘L’ now comes 3,026mm of the wheelbase. The Audi A7L is also now 5076mm in overall length.

Design & Styling

The Audi A7L is not the Sportback anymore. To accommodate the longer length of the wheelbase, Audi has redesigned the roofline and the sedan also features taller windows. The sloping roofline is not the part of the sedan anymore and the A7L also gets a new tailgate. The tailgate features a spoiler built into the boot and new LED graphics on the taillamps cluster.

Powertrain

The Audi A7L comes with a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 engine that produces 335 Hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and a four-wheel driveline. Audi will also introduce a 3.0-litre hybrid engine on the A7L in China as well as a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol powertrain in the international market.

Audi A7L First Edition

The Audi A7L is likely to make its market debut in the Chinese market soon. The sedan will come in the First Edition model with special trims and features in China. The variant is likely to feature air suspension and four-wheel steering as a standard part of the pack. Speculations are that the First Edition model will come with the 3.0-litre hybrid petrol motor. Also, the First Edition model will be a limited special edition with only 1,000 units for sale.
