Written by Kanad Kalasur

Ather will be unveiling some new updates on the 450X electric scooter. Ather is one of the popular electric scooters in India. The new updates could possibly pertain to new colours, variants and feature updates.

New colours on the Ather 450X

Ather has organised a Community Day event on 7th January 2023. The electric scooter start-up is planning to launch these new updates tomorrow. Now, ahead of the launch, few details have leaked online.

Some of the new colours on the Ather 450X include Cosmic Black, Lunar Grey, Salt Green and a new Red Shade. The exciting colours of White, Space Grey and Mint Green will continue to be offered as well.

Bigger seat on the Ather 450X

Ather will announce a larger seat for the scooter. This seat will feature a longer and wider base. Apart from the larger dimensions, the seat will be equipped with a revised contour that could help deliver better comfort to both the rider as well as the pillion.

Powertrain Specs of the Ather 450X

There is no changes on the powertrain expected. The Ather 450X Gen3 will continue to get a 3.66 kWh battery pack with a 3 phase PMS (Permanent Synchronous) motor. The Ather 450X Gen2 gets a smaller 2.23 kWh battery.

New Ather scooter in the works?

There were plans to launch a more affordable Ather scooter sometime last year. The move was likely to target rival Ola’s S1 Air, which has a starting price from INR 80,000. That said, Ola has now revised the price to INR 85,000. But for electric companies, not just Ather or Ola, but even carmakers, now is a key point as most of the subsidies for EVs are either coming down or have entirely been reduced to zero. This means, the EVs should be priced at an attractive amount right from the showroom.

The affordable Ather could come with steel rims, cast-iron or steel frame and smaller battery and slightly lower performance.
