River EV electric scooter spotted testing

Written by Kanad Kalasur

River EV electric scooter has been spotted testing. River is just one of the newest brands in the electric scooter segment. These days electric two wheelers are quite popular and more and more brands are foraying into this space.

River Electric scooter : More Details

River EV is a Bangalore-based startup in the electric mobility field. The latest spy images of the scooter reveal that the company is positioning this scooter more towards comfort and commuter friendly rather than being sporty.

In terms of design, the scooter comes  with a large front apron and twin-LED lamps. These are pretty similar looking to the ones on the Yamaha Neo’s electric scooter. One more unique feature at the front is the folding front foot pegs. These will allow the rider to position his feet on them when carrying any luggage on the footboard.

Coming to the wheels, the scooter is riding on large wheels. These appear to be around 14-inches in size. Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes on both ends. The scooter also comes with an LED instrument cluster and clip-on handlebars. For ease of parking, a centre stand is also offered.

River Electric scooter : Powertrain

Since this is one of the first times that the scooter has been spotted testing, we do not have any details of the powertrain – the electric motor or the battery size.

River EV was founded by Aravind Mani and Vipin George back in 2020. The brand is said to be created to offer multi-utility electric scooters. Hence, we can speculate that the scooters could be offered with multiple battery options. Range numbers could be around 180 km for the largest battery size while the top speed could be restricted to 80 km/h.

River Electric scooter : Launch

The company could be targeting a 2023 launch.
