Owning an Ather is all set to get easier. As per reports, Ather Energy is gearing for yet another variant of the 450. With an aim to expand its product portfolio in India, the EV maker took this decision. As we understand, the company has plans to soon launch the Ather 450S. This will come in as an affordable version of the 450X.
What Do We Expect From The Ather 450S?
Given its proposition as an affordable scooter, there are some compromises. Thus, we are expecting the 450S to come with lesser features. This route will help the Bengaluru-based EV maker to price this scooter lower than the 450X. In fact, this will also allow the scooter to take advantage of the FAME incentives. In addition to this, aggressive pricing will also help the brand to attract more customers thus more sales. The long-term aim is to grab a bigger market share. With a wide dealership network, Ather is making bold moves to make maximum use of its wide showroom network.
Current 450 Variants On Sale
Currently, Ather Energy retails 450X in two variants. These are standard and Pro. The Pro pack trim is the most expensive one, as it benefits from features like auto hold, all riding modes, parking assist, a five-year battery warranty, fast charging, and a smartphone app. Thus, this trim is almost INR 30,000 dearer than the standard variant. For your reference, the standard trim retails at INR 1.19 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
EV Makers Under The Govt Scanner
Recently, EV makers were again in the headlines. As directed by the Supreme Court order, many EV brands were asked to refund they had billed customers for portable chargers. These EV makers had sold these chargers as a separate package to cut short the ex-showroom price below INR 1.5 lakh. This allowed them to get the full benefit of the FAME subsidies.
Expected Price Range
As for the pricing of this Ather 450S, we are expecting a price range between INR 1.45 lakh to INR 1.5 lakh.
