Hyundai Creta electric test car spotted while charging

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Hyundai India is making some bold moves in the EV segment. With the demand for EVs rising, the Korean maker is fully preparing to make a big impact. Hyundai has already hinted to us about its electric mobility plans with the Ioniq 5. But that caters to the luxury segment customers.

Now the carmaker seems all set to enter the mass market EV segment. As we understand, Hyundai has started working on the electric version of the Creta mid-size SUV. This will position it below the Kona Electric and Ioniq 5. In the last few days, we have received some spy shots of the Creta EV. This pretty much suggests that Hyundai is working hard and also making good progress on the Creta EV.

Creta EV Exterior Outlook Highlights

The spied Creta EV test mule carries a very similar exterior outlook to its ICE version. But, upon close inspection, we can notice that the bumpers use a different colour. But we assume this will most likely be reworked for the final production-spec version. Furthermore, being an EV, we do not see an exhaust tailpipe. In fact, we can also notice the battery pack peeking out from the side profile of the SUV.

Creta EV India Launch Timeline

Another spy shot of the Creta EV reveals that it was being charged through the engine bay. But once the production variant arrives, we expect the SUV to get a dedicated charging flap. Talking of the architecture, the Creta EV most likely use the localised and re-engineered version of the E-GMP platform. But we can expect Hyundai to make some changes based on theĀ  Indian road conditions. As for the launch, maybe we could see the Create EV make its debut next year or early 2025.
