Aprilia SXR 160 could be priced at INR 1.5 lakh on-road

Aprilia’s much-awaited scooter in the Indian market is the SXR160 maxi-scooter that was unveiled at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020 at the beginning of the year. The maxiscooter was expected to be launched during the festive season this year but COVID-19 pandemic, the associated lockdown and supply chain disruption could have delayed the launch window. 

Recently, the brand announced that the Aprilia SXR160 will be produced in the Indian market at Piaggio’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The maxi-scooter has been designed in Italy and features Aprilia’s latest global design language. The brand also revealed a new colour on the new Aprilia SXR160 along with details about the powertrain. 

Now a media report suggests that the Aprilia SXR160 is likely to be priced around INR 1.30 lakh ex-showroom in the Indian market, which means the on the road price after taxes and insurance is likely to go up to INR 1.50 lakhs. Sources also suggest that the brand will open bookings by this weekend through Aprilia’s online sales channels as well as at Piaggio dealerships. 

The Aprilia SXR160 is expected to be offered in two colour options – Red and Blue in 3 coat HD body paint finish, a maxi-scooter design with an imposing front apron, signature Aprilia body graphics, dark chrome trim, matte black accents, an aerodynamic front with an integrated flyscreen, twin-split crystal LED headlamps with eyeline LED daytime running lights, integrated front turn indicators, LED taillights with integrated rear turn indicators, ergonomically designed seats and handlebar, a multifunctional all-digital instruments cluster with smartphone connectivity features, etc. 

The Aprilia SXR160 is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 160cc 3-valve SOHC motor with fuel injection technology and clean emission engine technology, that is expected to produce around 12 PS of power matched to a CVT automatic transmission. The Aprilia SXR160 features twin-hydraulic telescopic front fork suspension and an adjustable rear suspension. Stopping power comes from a single ventilated disc on the front with twin pot hydraulic calliper and a mechanical drum on the rear, equipped with single-channel ABS technology for safety.
