Hyundai Creta EV could arrive in India in 2025

Written by News Team

Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced plans to launch its most affordable electric SUV, the Hyundai Creta EV, in India by 2025.

Production Plans

Hyundai has confirmed that it will begin series production of the Creta EV by the end of 2024. The electric SUV will be manufactured at Hyundai’s facility in Tamil Nadu, near Chennai. This move marks a significant step in Hyundai’s commitment to producing affordable and environmentally friendly vehicles for the Indian market.

Hyundai Creta EV – What to Expect?

The Creta EV is expected to boast slightly altered design touches to distinguish it from its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. While the exact model details remain a secret, spy shots from India and Korea suggest that the vehicle will be very similar to the ICE powered Hyundai Creta.

The interior of the Creta EV is expected to retain the dual integrated displays found in the current ICE-powered model, with minor changes such as a new three-spoke steering wheel and a steering column-mounted gear selector.

In terms of features, the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to offer a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a Bose sound system. Safety features are likely to include six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and ADAS.

Performance and Pricing

While it’s still early to discuss technical specifications, the Creta EV is expected to offer multiple motor and battery pack options with a range exceeding the 400 km mark. Hyundai and Kia have previously announced a partnership with Exide batteries to produce locally manufactured batteries for more competitive prices.

The Hyundai Creta EV is likely to be priced from around the INR 20 lakh mark (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with models such as the MG ZS EV as well as the upcoming Tata Curvv EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
