Hyundai is currently testing the full-electric version of the Creta abroad as well as in India. The test mule of the EV revealed that the upcoming EV is likely to be based on the ICE Hyundai Creta facelift which was launched recently. However, the insides of the vehicle are likely to borrow equipment from the Hyundai Kona Electric, suggests sources. In addition to this, the Creta EV is also likely to borrow the powerunit and battery from the Kona Electric as well.

Hyundai Creta EV – Interiors Spied

According to spy shots that have recently emerged on the internet, the Creta EV could possibly use the steering wheel and drive selector from the Kona Electric. However, the dashboard is likely to be from the recent facelift model of the ICE Creta. However, the Drive Selector which is on the centr console of the Kona Electric is likely to be repositioned to the right side of the steering wheel.

This is likely to free up more space in the centre console as well as we could get to see a new EV-specific design for the same. The instruments cluster and the infotainment screen, which is a twin-curvilinear-screen layout is likely to be carried forward. However, expect changes to the user experience, which is likely to be more EV specific. But more or less the dashboard is likely to be similar to the latest ICE-powered Creta.

Hyundai Creta EV – Powertrain and Battery

The upcoming Hyundai Creta EV is also likely to borrow the 138 Hp motor and 45 kWh battery pack from the Kona Electric. This will help Hyundai streamline the production process and also help bring down the manufacturing costs. The benefits are likely to be passed on the customers in terms of an affordable price tag. In terms of competition, the Creta EV is likely to go head to head with the MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV Long Range and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX.
