Honda has made waves at the EICMA trade show in Milan with the unexpected unveiling of the 2024 CB1000 Hornet, a replacement for the popular CB1000R. Departing from the CB1000R’s understated semi-retro design, the new Hornet embraces a style reminiscent of the iconic parallel-twin CB750 Hornet, introduced late in 2022.
2024 Honda CB1000 Hornet : More Details
One of the most significant changes lies under the Hornet’s sleek exterior: a detuned version of Honda’s 2017 Fireblade superbike motor. While the exact power output remains undisclosed, Honda has hinted that it will exceed 147.5 BHP. Derived from the 2017 Fireblade’s engine, which boasted 189 BHP, the Hornet promises impressive performance without competing directly with extreme powerhouses like the Ducati Streetfighter V4 S or Kawasaki’s Z H2.
The Hornet’s torque figure is also shrouded in mystery, though Honda assures it will surpass 100 Nm. This positioning hints at a competitive stance against the Suzuki GSX-S1000, which offers 152 BHP and 105.7 Nm of torque.
To accommodate the modern engine, Honda has crafted a new twin-spar frame, departing from the steel backbone design of the previous model. The bike retains the CB1000R’s proven suspension system, featuring fully adjustable 41mm Showa SFF-BP upside-down forks and a Showa rear shock. Meanwhile, the Hornet might feel more agile due to its narrower 180-section rear tire, compared to the previous 190-section.
Electronics on the 2024 Honda CB1000 Hornet
In terms of electronics, the Hornet maintains a familiar setup with three pre-set riding modes, basic traction control, and a 5-inch TFT dash equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. These features, coupled with unchanged suspension, suggest a focus on delivering exceptional value to riders.
2024 Honda CB1000 Hornet : Pricing strategy
Honda has yet to disclose the price, but it is speculated that the CB1000 Hornet will adhere to the competitive pricing strategy established by the CB750 Hornet. With its newfound performance and updated design, the CB1000 Hornet promises to be a compelling option for motorcycle enthusiasts seeking a thrilling yet practical riding experience. That said, there is no information yet on the bikes availability in India.
