Kia India has announced that they have delivered 200 units of the EV6 all-electric sedan. The Korean carmaker had planned for only 100 units this year, but it has already sold double the units and there are still pending deliveries for this year.

What is the EV6

Kia EV6 is the first electric offering of the Korean brand. It was launched back in June 2022, but received a whooping 355 bookings even before deliveries commenced last month. As promised, the carmaker will be delivering the balance cars before the end of this year.

The EV6 is based on Kia’s E-GMP platform. The Electric-Global Modular Platform is a dedicated EV platform that offers a range of 708 km (ARAI test) on the Kia EV6. The EV6 is the first car from the company to follow the ‘Opposite United’ design philosophy. The electric vehicle takes inspiration from the contrasts found in nature and humanity.

At the front, the EV6 features dual LED headlights which offer a progressive design language. At the same time, it also features Adaptive Driving Beam for intelligently adjusting the beam not to dazzle oncoming traffic.

The rear of the car features a connected LED light bar. It connects both the tail lamps. The EV6 also gets flush automatic door handles which lends the car a cleaner look. Being an EV, aerodynamics play an important role and hence the flush door handles and the aero alloy wheels. The EV6 rides on 19-inch wheels with a Crystal cut design.

Kia’s electric plans for India

Thanks to the overwhelming response for the EV6, the carmaker is going ahead with the launch of an India-focused EV by 2025. Kia will also be increasing the allocation for EV6 for the next year. They will also be collaborating with Hyundai on development of future EVs and other electrified vehicles in India.
