Lotus Evija has entered production, and the specifications have granted it the title of Most Powerful Production Car in the world. Only 130 units of the car would be built; 8 of those would be the Evija Fittipaldi editions. All of them have been sold out, with the first customer deliveries expected in 2023.
Lotus Evija Powertrain and specs
In terms of sheer numbers, the electric hypercar gets four electric motors with a combined output of 2,011 BHP and 1,703 Nm. Previously, Lotus had promised an output of 1,973 BHP. These four motors are capable of propelling the car from 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds with a 0-299 km/h time of under 9 seconds. The top speed of the electric car is restricted to 349 km/h.
Lotus Evija Design
In terms of design, the Evija gets a carbon fibre monocoque, magnesium alloy wheels and race-inspired suspension. The car ticks the weight scale at 1,886 kg.
The Evija is just 1125.22 mm tall, making it one of the most aerodynamic cars. The car’s fluid lines allow it to cut through the air quickly. At the back, the Evija gets twin rear-quarter Venturi tunnels to increase the downforce and reduce the drag. Hence, air flows above, below, around, and through the car.
It also gets an F1-inspired drag reduction system (DRS) along with an active rear wing. This wing gets the decals of the five F1 wins from 1972. This helps the car to stay on the road with utmost precision.
Lotus Evija Fittipaldi Edition
To celebrate the start of production, Lotus has unveiled a special edition of the Evija – the Evija Fittipaldi. This marks 50 years since F1 driver Emerson Fittipaldi became the world champion in 1928 with a Lotus Type 72. Emerson was just 25 when he won the title, and was the youngest world champion in Formula One, a record he held for the next 33 years.
