After a lot of teasers, German bike manufacturer BMW Motorrad has finally launched the G 310 RR in India. The G 310 RR is basically BMW’s iteration of the TVS Apache RR 310. Unlike the other BMW models to use the TVS platform and engine, the G 310 RR is up-to-date with the latest Apache RR 310. The pricing for the 2022 BMW G 310 RR starts from INR 2.85 lakh ex-showroom. BMW had officially opened bookings for the model some time back. Along with it, BMW also announced various finance options for the motorcycle.
The 2022 G 310 RR will be BMW’s most affordable fully-faired bike. It is the fourth product under the TVS-BMW Motorrad alliance. The other three are TVS’ Apache RR 310 and BMW’s G 310 GS and G 310 R.
In addition to this, BMW Motorrad also announced the launch of its lifestyle collection. The collection includes select apparel and accessories. The highlight is that the BMW Motorrad Lifestyle Collection will now be made in India.
2022 BMW G 310 RR – Highlights
The 2022 BMW G 310 RR will be available in two variants – Standard and Style Sport. The Standard variant of the G 310 RR will set you back by INR 2,85,000 ex-showroom. Meanwhile, the 2022 G 310 RR in the Style Sport variant will cost INR 2,99,000 ex-showroom. The Standard variant comes in black colour with minimal decals, while the Style Sport variant adorns BMW M colours.
The 2022 G 310 RR uses the same 5-inch portrait smart TFT display as the latest Apache RR 310. However, it gets BMW-specific graphics. The G 310 RR also gets a ride-by-wire throttle. This also allows it to have ride modes. Another highlight is the LED projector headlights which it shares with the RR 310. One major difference is the tyres. In its last update, TVS equipped the Apache RR 310 with premium Michelin Road 5. However, BMW is using the Michelin Pilot Street Radial tyres, which came with the original Apache RR 310.
2022 BMW G 310 RR – Technical Specifications
The BMW G 310 RR is identical to the TVS Apache RR 310 when it comes to its mechanicals. Powering the G 310 RR is a 312.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-valve DOHC engine. The engine produces peak power of 34 PS and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. It uses a 6-speed transmission with a slip and assist clutch. BMW claims it can go from 0 to 60 kmph in just 2.9 seconds.
The engine also has a unique reverse-inclined engine layout. Thus, allowing for the usage of a ram-air intake system. Furthermore, the layout also makes the engine compact and helps with mass-centralization. A hydraulic cam chain tensioner also allows for more durable engine quality.
The suspension setup of the G 310 RR consists of KYB-tuned cartridge-type USD forks at the front and a gas-assisted monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking hardware consists of a 300 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. However, unlike the Apache RR 310’s petal-type discs, the G 310 RR uses conventional ones. The front uses four-piston radially-mounted callipers, while the rear uses a single-piston floating calliper.
2022 BMW G 310 RR – Competition
The latest BMW motorcycle will go up against the other 300-400cc faired motorcycles. These include the Kawasaki Ninja 300, the new KTM RC 390 and its sibling, the TVS Apache RR 310. The G 310 RR offers a lot more compared to the Ninja 300 but misses out on an extra-cylinder. Meanwhile, the 2022 KTM RC 390 offers more equipment than the Beamer but also costs more. On the other hand, the TVS Apache RR 310 is the same bike with different graphics and without the BMW badge.
