Suzuki Motorcycles India has launched the highly awaited KATANA in the Indian market. The Katana falls under the product concept ‘Forging a New Street Legend’. Suzuki developed the Katana to be a sporty-looking street motorcycle. The brand also says it takes lean, mean retro flair and evolves it to offer modern styling and performance. Furthermore, Suzuki also says that the Katana’s development process closely resembles the arduous process of creating the Japanese ‘Katana’ sword.
The new Katana will be available at all Suzuki’s Bike Zone dealerships from today. The Suzuki Katana will be available in two colour options – Metallic Matt Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver. The motorcycle comes with a sticker price of INR 13,61,000 ex-showroom.
2022 Suzuki Katana – Highlights
At the heart of the Suzuki Katana is a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine. The motor puts out 152 PS of power at 11,000 rpm and maximum torque of 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm. This is the same engine that powers the GSX-S1000. The motorcycle also features a Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System. The system helps add overall value to the riding experience by enabling new electronic control systems. These include Low RPM Assist and Suzuki Easy Start System. The former prevents the engine from stalling in stop-and-go traffic. Meanwhile, the latter enables the rider to start the bike with one quick press.
The 2022 Katana also features various rider electronic rider aids. These include – Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) and Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS). The traction control system of the Katana offers 5 levels of adjustability. Additionally, one can also turn it off completely. On the other hand, the mode selector offers three different modes. These modes change the output characteristics of the bike. The different modes change the output from the slightly open position to the top of the mid-range speed. This allows riders to change this setting to match riding conditions or preferences.
