Continuing Yamaha’s ‘The Call of the Blue’ direction, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. has announced an exciting update for its YZF-R15S V3 in India. The ‘S’ variant of the R15 V3, which features a unibody seat design, will now be available in a new Matte Black colour option. The new colour option is in addition to the already available Racing Blue option. Pricing for the Yamaha YZF-R15S Version 3 starts at INR 1,60,900 ex-showroom.
Yamaha says its priority is to always cater to the customers’ demands. Last year, the brand launched the YZF-R15S V3 in Racing Blue colour. Since then, Yamaha has carried out market research to check customer feedback. During this, the company found out that many were looking for another colour option with the YZF-R15S V3. Thus, to address these customer requirements, Yamaha decided to launch the YZF-R15S V3 in Matte Black colour option.
Yamaha YZF-R15S V3 – Highlights
After Yamaha launched the YZF-R15 V4 in India, the brand continued selling the YZF-R15 V3 as the YZF-R15S V3. The biggest change in this model, apart from the addition of ‘S’ in its name, was the ‘Unibody seat’. The seat aims to offer more comfort to the rider and pillion of the motorcycle. Yamaha also used a similar strategy when the Japanese brand launched the YZF-R15 V2.
Apart from the seat change, the YZF-R15S V3 is identical to the YZF-R15 V3. Thus, it uses the same 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder 4-valve SOHC engine. The fuel-injected motor also features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). It also features an advanced die-cast aluminium (DiASil) cylinder for better cooling performance. The engine makes 18.6 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. An Assist and Slipper clutch is also standard on the bike. It allows for lighter clutch pull and helps when aggressively downshifting.
