TVS Motor has released its sales report for May 2022. The two-wheeler maker posted a total sales of 3,02,982 units for the given period. Also, compared to May 2021, the growth is not comparable as the Covid-19 lockdowns imposed by the Government of India severely impacted the sales for the period. The worldwide shortage of semiconductor chips also continues to impact the production and sales of premium two-wheelers. Although, TVS is working hard to align its sources and mitigate the cause. The company is optimistic about the future when the semiconductor supplies improve, thus ensuring the steady production of vehicles.
Detailed Sales Analysis
Two-Wheelers
For the two-wheeler market, TVS sold a total of 2,87,058 units for May 2022. This also includes domestic two-wheeler sales of 1,91,482 units. Motorcycles accounted for 1,48,560 units for the mentioned period. Meanwhile, scooters contributed 1,00,665 units.
International Business
In terms of international business, TVS exported a total of 1,10,245 units in May 2022. Two-wheeler exports accounted for 95,576 units in May 2022.
Three-Wheelers
For the three-wheeler market, TVS posted a total sales of 5,924 units in May 2022.
Electric Vehicles
In the emerging electric vehicle company, TVS posted a total sales of 2,637 units in May 2022. All of these are TVS iQube electric scooters.
Other Updates
TVS recently announced its partnership with Rapido to explore the hyperlocal mobility segments. With the increasing number of digital services and the growing number of smartphones, people demand everything to be delivered to their doorstep. This also increases the demand for last-mile delivery and hyper-local services. Rapido currently is the leading bike-taxi platform in India. As a part of this partnership, TVS will tie up with Rapido to realize their shift to the EV segment. With increasing demand and lucrative EV incentives, almost all the delivery services are also opting for EVs, and the same is the case for Rapido as well.
