Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India continue to spread road safety awareness across India. The company does this under the National Road Safety Awareness Campaign. Recently, Honda conducted a three-day camp at the Radha Krishna Public School in Ghaziabad. In this, over 2100 school students and staff members took part. The main agenda of the event was to impart age-appropriate road safety learning programs, thus enhancing road safety awareness.
Events Covered As Part Of This Program
To enable an exciting and interactive session, HMSI educated the 5 to 10 years old with practical examples. The training personnel used a specially imported CRF50 motorcycle to illustrate the teaching. The kids were also taught about the do’s and don’ts while commuting on a school bus and cycling. For 11 to 12-year-olds, the safety tips revolve around proper bicycle riding. In addition to this, they also got to know about their duties as a pillion on a two-wheeler.
For 13 to 17-year-olds, learning included safety riding theory sessions on on-road rules and regulations. It also had important road signs and markings and drivers’ duties on the road. The training personnel also explained about riding gear and proper riding posture. For the school staff members, HMSI tested and honed their learning through real-time training on a two-wheeler. There were also educational activities like road safety games and quizzes. These helped for more engagement and brought up more excitement for the participants.
Honda’s Commitment Towards Road Safety
Honda’s global target by 2050 is to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles. Although a very ambitious target, Honda is working hard to accomplish it. In India, the company has set up 10 traffic parks and 7 Safety Driving Education Centres, wherein HMSI has been promoting road safety through various daily programmes. In addition to this, HMSI has started the digital road safety education initiative – Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul. Over 7 lakh Indians have been sensitised on the importance of being aware and responsible road users using this.
