Suzuki has just launched the new V-Strom SX 250 in the Indian market. With the new V-Strom SX 250, the brand has entered the quarter-litre sports adventure touring segment. Currently, the KTM 250 Adventure is the segment dominator, now rivalled by the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250. Recently, the Austrian brand launched the 2022 Model Year of the 250 Adventure offering enhanced electronics and a new colour.
While the V-Strom SX 250, which boasts of being the “Master of all Adventures”, draws inspiration from the DR-Z racer and DR- BIG models and is optimised to offer a balance between both city commute and long-distance highway riding. Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 Vs. KTM 250 Adventure – Price
The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 comes with a price tag of INR 211,600 ex-showroom. The motorcycle is offered in three colour options – Champion Yellow No.2, Pearl Blaze Orange and Glass Sparkle Black. The KTM 250 Adventure comes with a price tag of INR 235,802 ex-showroom. The 250 Adventure is offered in two colour options – KTM Factory Racing Blue and Electronic Orange.
Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 Vs. KTM 250 Adventure – Engine
Powering the Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 is a 249cc single-cylinder SOHC oil-cooled engine. The V-Strom SX 250 features SOCS (Suzuki Oil Cooling System) that circulates engine oil around the engine and the cylinder head. This helps in the thermodynamic efficiency of the engine, keeping the temperatures in check. The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 produces 26.5 PS of power and 22.2 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox.
On the other hand, powering the KTM 250 Adventure is a 248cc DOHC single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The motor features a Bosch electronic fuel injection system producing 30 PS of power and 24 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox matched to an advanced Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC).
Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 Vs. KTM 250 Adventure – Suspension and Dimensions
The Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 comes with a right-side-up telescopic coil spring and an oil damped suspension on the front. On the rear, the motorcycle features a swing arm type, coil spring and an oil damped suspension. The motorcycle measures 2,180mm in length, 880mm in width, 1,355mm in height and a wheelbase of 1,440mm. The V-Strom SX 250 comes with a 205 mm ground clearance, 835 mm seat height and 167 kg kerb weight. The motorcycle also comes with a 12-litre fuel tank.
The KTM 250 Adventure rides on 43mm WP Apex upside down hydraulic front forks. The motorcycle also comes with an adjustable WP Apex rear monoshock. The KTM 250 Adventure comes with a 1,430 mm wheelbase, 200mm of ground clearance and 855 mm of seat height. The KTM 250 Adventure features a 14.5-litre fuel tank and 177 kg weight at the kerb. Both motorcycles come with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel shod in dual sport tyres.
