6-seater MG ‘Hector Plus’ SUV spotted testing

Written by Parichay Malvankar

MG Motor India has struck the right chord in the Indian car market with the Hector SUV which has managed to find quite a few buyers with ease even though the brand was all new here in India. Now, Morris Garages is set to introduce another iteration of the Hector which would be a 6-seater model. Expected to be launched as the ‘Hector Plus’, this 6-seater SUV with captain seats in the 2nd row could be positioned as a premium model in the Hector line-up.

The MG Hector Plus was recently spotted testing on the streets and the 2nd row captain seats are very clearly visible. One can notice the leather upholstery, reclining captain seats, retractable arm rest for each passenger, adjustable head rest and contrast stitching. The 6-seater MG Hector Plus would surely offer more comfort in the 2nd row thanks to these captain seats. Also, the spyshots reveal that this model will come with new LED DRLs, new headlamps, new tail lamps and subtle cosmetic changes to help customer differentiate this from the standard 5-seater Hector SUV.

Another point to note is that the MG Hector Plus will come with BSVI compliant engines. The SUV will carry forward with petrol and diesel engine options, and a diesel automatic is also on the cards. The 2020 MG Hector Plus will also get an updated infotainment system which should be much more intuitive to use and get rid of the lag we see in the current car.

The pricing of the MG Hector Plus 6-seater is expected to be at a premium of around INR 30,000 – INR 50,000. We expect MG Motor India to unveil the 6-seater variant at the 2020 Auto Expo. With this, we doubt MG will consider introducing the 7-seater variant of the Hector in India as it makes no sense to have 3 seat layout options on sale for the same car.
