Toyota has introduced the first-ever 2023 GR Corolla in the international market. The brand has announced that the new GR Corolla will go on sale later this year, and the pricing will be announced in the coming months. The Toyota GR Corolla comes with sports car-like performance, handling and functionality and has been developed with the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team. Toyota also reveals that the GR Corolla also receives master driver Akio Toyoda, a.k.a. Morizo’s approval.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla – Powertrain Details
Powering the new GR Corolla is a 1.6-litre G16E-GTS turbo-charged, direct/port-injected three-cylinder engine. The engine produces 300 Hp of power and 370 Nm of torque. G16-E engine comes mated to a rally developed GR-Four All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) drivetrain from Toyota. The drivetrain gives the driver a choice of 60-40, 50-50 or 30-70 power distribution to the front and rear wheels. The brand has announced that the GR Corolla will only be offered in a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) with rev-matching.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla – Highlights
The GR Corolla is based on Toyota’s GA-C platform. The brand has made enhanced frame reinforcements developed specifically for GR Corolla at GR Factory at the Toyota Motomachi plant. The car features functional exterior air vents as well as aerodynamic features to further support steering stability. The brand will be offering the GR Corolla in two trim options – “Core” and launch-year-exclusive “Circuit Edition”.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla – Core Trim
In its Core trim, the GR Corolla will be available in white, black and Supersonic Red colour options. The car also features a colour-keyed roof along with a rear lip spoiler. The hot hatch also gets GR-Four stamped side rockers and wide-fender flares. The Toyota GR Corolla will come with five seats and gets GR logos on the sports seats.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla – Circuit Edition
The Circuit Edition will be a limited-run model available in 2023 featuring white, Supersonic Red and Heavy Metal colour options. The car also comes with the same GR-Four stamped side rockers and wide fenders as the Core. However, in addition to this, the Circuit Edition also gets a forged carbon-fibre roof, a vented bulge hood and a sporty spoiler on the rear. On the inside, the Circuit Edition features Brin Naub suede-trimmed sport seats with red accents along with a launch-year-exclusive Morizo signed shift knob.
