2023 Honda CB650R & CBR650R revealed

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Honda has unveiled the new models of its popular motorcycles, the CB650R and CBR650R, in Europe. For the 2023 model year, the bikes retain the same mechanicals, with the only updates being the new colour options on both bikes.

The CB650R is the naked version of the middle-weight sports bike. Customers can now choose two new colour options – Matt Dim Grey Metallic or Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic. Existing colours like the Candy Chromosphere Red and Matt Jeans Blue Metallic will continue to be offered. The CBR650R, a fully-faired bike, now gets Grand Prix Red and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic colour schemes. Apart from the new colours, both the bikes come with blacked-out engine casings and new decals. The CB and CBR have a digital display and a full LED lighting setup.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of these 650cc Hondas is due to the powerful engine and the fact that the bike offers sensible running costs. The bikes can hence be used both for day-to-day transportation as well as weekend fun.

Both the bikes continue to use the same 649cc engine. The DOHC, 16-valve, inline-4 engine, belts out a peak power of 86 BHP @ 12,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 57.5 Nm @ 8,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Also included with both the bikes is Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) technology, and Honda Ignition Security System (HISS).

Honda currently sells the CB650R and CBR 650R at ex-showroom prices of INR 9,15,000 and INR 9,35,000, respectively. The 2023 version is basically the same bikes with new paint colours. Hence it is likely that Honda could introduce the same in India.
