Kia has updated their flagship SUV for 2022. The 2022 Kia Telluride made its debut at the New York Auto Show and now gets fresh new styling, added technology and two new trim lines.
2022 Kia Telluride – What’s new?
The 2022 Kia Telluride will now come with two new trims – X-Line and X-Pro. The two trims offer enhanced off-road capabilities and more ruggedness. Kia says the X-Line and X-Pro trims are for those who often choose to go to the beaten path.
The model features revised styling, including a new headlight design, bumpers and grille at the front. At the rear, it gets a new taillight design, rear fascia, and trim at the back. On the sides, the model receives revised lower door garnishes. Additionally, the new Telluride gets new wheel designs for all the trims. It is also available in three new colours – Midnight Lake Blue, Dawning Red and Jungle Wood Green.
The interiors of the Telluride have class-leading passenger room and now also gets new features and tech. The highlight of the interiors is the new curved and seamless dual 12.3-inch display screens. The two screens are merged into one giant screen and house the instrument cluster and the infotainment display. The dashboard, steering wheel trim panels and HVAC vents also get a redesign and revisions.
2022 Kia Telluride X-Line and X-Pro
The off-road focussed versions of the Telluride get several updates and differences. The X-Line brings a unique radiator grille design, body-coloured door handles, bridge-type roof rails, exclusive 20-inch wheels and X-Line badging. Additionally, the X-Line Pro gets exclusive 18-inch wheels and 18-inch Continental all-terrain tyres and “X-Pro” badging. As for the interior, the trim lines get “X-Line” or “X-Pro” embossing on the front seats. The X-Line features exclusive colour packages, while the X-Pro also receives a 110-volt inverter outlet in the cargo area.
Both models get upgrades to the Traction Control System, a tow mode with shift logic, sway control, and higher ground clearance for better approach and departure angles. The X-Pro additionally gets an increased towing limit from 5,000-pounds to 5,500-pounds.
2022 Kia Telluride – Powertrain
The Korean manufacturer has not made any changes to the powertrain of the 2022 Telluride. The engine continues to be a 3.8-litre V6 GDI engine running on Atkinson Cycle. It produces a maximum power of 291 HP and maximum torque of 355 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels using an All-Wheel-Drive system via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Telluride uses a four-wheel independent suspension for increased comfort and better dynamics.
