Stellantis, Qualcomm & Digital Chassis – What’s this?

Stellantis has joined forces with Qualcomm Technologies introducing a new Digital Chassis powered by Snapdragon. The brand has revealed that the Snapdragon Automotive Platforms will be providing high-performance computing power to the STLA Chassis. Under the multi-year collaboration, Stellantis and Qualcomm will produce Digital Chassis that will be capable of delivering intelligent, customisable and immersive in-vehicle experiences. Beginning in 2024, the brand has revealed that it will employ the Digital Chassis across 14 iconic automotive brands under the Stellantis umbrella. 

What is a Digital Chassis? 

The Digital Chassis will leverage Snapdragon’s Cockpit Platforms and 5G capabilities for telematics systems. The new Digital Chassis will integrate the technology platform keeping up with the continuously evolving expectations. Under the partnership, Stellantis will merge all software domains into High-Performance Computers. This will allow the brand to integrate low-power Snapdragon Automotive Platforms across all major vehicle domains. The Digital Chassis will incorporate two technologies STLA Brain and STLA SmartCockpit Technology Platforms.

STLA Brain

STLA Brain will be bringing new digital intelligence for convenience and safety. The STLA Brain will include highly intuitive artificial intelligence (AI) features. In addition to this, it also comes with Over-the-air (OTA) updates, evolving the vehicle and adding new driving modes that also increase the vehicle’s horsepower. The STLA Brain will also offer a personalised experience and improved user experiences. It also gives the customers an always-connected experience and continuously provides new services and solutions. STLA Brain is also capable of diagnostics and repair completed over the air for all major vehicle systems. 

STLA SmartCockpit

Stellantis has announced that the brand will be using the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms. This will help the brand power the in-car communication and infotainment systems for STLA SmartCockpit. Stellantis revealed that Amazon and Foxconn are designing the SmartCockpit. The STLA SmartCockpit is engineered to offer high-definition graphics in both touch and voice-controlled cockpit consoles. Thanks to STLA SmartCockpit, the user will be able to get a fully immersive in-cabin experience. The SmartCockpit will offer premium audio and crystal-clear voice communications. Stellantis has revealed that Maserati will be the first brand to apply the next generation Stellantis infotainment system.
