2022 Kia Seltos electric SUV road testing overseas

Kia is reportedly working on a new electric vehicle which is likely to be based on the Kia Seltos. Reports suggest that the new electric car will be around 4,300 mm in length and underpin the Hyundai Group’s E-GMP electric architecture. The brand is likely to position the upcoming Kia electric SUV below the recently introduced Kia EV6. 

Kia Seltos EV – Spyshots

Images of the Kia Seltos electric vehicle have appeared on the internet. But unfortunately, the images of the EV are heavily camouflaged, and design details of the SUV are scarce. But the keen-eyed would notice that the SUV features a rounded haunch, a sporty spoiler and a rising window line. The SUV also gets aero optimised alloy wheels, a multilayered rear apron with skid plates, vertical aero ducts and an upright overall stance. 

While images of the front are currently unavailable, speculations are that Kia will employ the new ‘Digital Tiger Face’ design that made its debut on the EV6. In place of the hallmark Tiger Nose grille, a sleek grille section on the front and sleek LED headlamps. Also, expect the rear to coincide with the front by getting wraparound LED taillamp units. 

Kia Seltos EV – Platform

The Hyundai Group’s E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) comes with a 400V electric architecture. The dedicated battery electric vehicle platform will come with the world’s first mass-produced integrated drive axle (IDA). The new platform also features a five-link rear suspension system that Hyundai revealed in mid and large-sized vehicles. The platform can accommodate batteries that can return a range of 500 km on a single charge and come with a 50kW~150kW charging system. The platform can also sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and attain a top speed of 260 kmph. 

Reports suggest that the new spied model will arrive in the international market by 2022.
