2022 Ducati Panigale V4 gets improved aerodynamics, ergonomics, engine, chassis & electronics

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Italian premium motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has revealed the 2022 new Panigale V4 in the fifth episode of Ducati World Premiere 2022. The 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 is the last step in the Ducati Corse. The brand will share and apply its learnings from the racing world to its production bikes. This allows the motorcycle brand to continuously refresh and equip the Panigale V4, just as it happens in MotoGP and WorldSBK.

The brand now boasts that the 2022 version of the Panigale V4 is the most significant evolution since its inception. The motorcycle comes with aerodynamics, ergonomics, engine, chassis, and electronics. This results in an even faster bike on the racetrack, more intuitive and less tiring for a wide range of riders. The new updates have been confirmed in special testing on the Vallelunga racing track in Italy.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 – Aerodynamics

Boffins at Ducati have concentrated their efforts in the aerodynamics department to make the bike more slippery and at the same time more stable. The Ducati Panigale V4 comes with a reprofiled fairing that integrates more compact and thinner double-profile design wings. The new update guarantees the same vertical load, up to 37 kg at 300 kmph. The lower fairing also features redesigned extraction sockets, improving the thermodynamics of the motorcycle and, as a consequence, the performance of the engine.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 – Ergonomics

The Ducati Panigale V4 comes with updated ergonomics, such as a new technical material for the seat. The seat is now flatter in shape and allows the rider more grip while braking, and also allows more effortless movement of the body. The tank is also reprofiled to offer more grip and comfort. Overall the rider gets more control when leaning completely outside the curves has been enhanced.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 – Engine

Powering the Panigale V4 is a Desmosedici Stradale MotoGP-derived 1103cc V4 cylinder liquid-cooled engine. For 2022, the motor gets a new lubrication circuit, a new oil pump and an increased diameter of the silencer outlets. The bike also comes with a new dedicated mapping that delivers 215.5 Hp of power and 123.6 Nm of torque.

The brand also offers a new 6-speed unit with lengthened ratio on the first, second and sixth gears. The Panigale V4 also comes with a new Power Modes logic and Full, High, Medium, Low engine configurations. The brand also offers a new exhaust system, entirely in titanium, developed in collaboration with Akrapovic. The exhaust increases the power output to 228 Hp and torque to 131 Nm. It also reduces the weight by 5 kgs.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 – Chassis and Electronics

The Desmosedici Stradale engine is a load-bearing part of the lightweight front frame made of magnesium, and the seat post is made in cast aluminium. The bike gets a new Ohlins NPX 25/30 electronically controlled pressurised fork minimising the risk of oil cavitation. This helps in better braking and absorption of bumps. The brand also offers Ohlins TTX36 rear shock absorber and an Ohlins steering damper.

The 2022 model gets a 6-axis inertial platform capable of instantly detecting the roll, yaw and pitch angles of the motorcycle in space. The electronic package includes 4 Riding Modes – Race A, Race B, Sport, Street. The bike also gets an improved dashboard and headlights. The 2022 Panigale also comes with a new “Track Evo” mode that offers a racing layout on the dashboard.

Ducati has announced that the Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S will be available starting in December 2021. The bikes will be available only in the classic “Ducati Red” colour.
