2021 Yamaha FZ-X specifications leak, 12.2 BHP & 13.3 Nm

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Yamaha could be planning to launch a new motorcycle in the Indian market. The Yamaha FZ-X, the brand in the recent past filed patents for this wordmark. But it was unknown at the time what could be the power specification of the motorcycle. Now a leaked ICAT document reveals that the Yamaha FZ-X will come with a 149cc engine that produces 12.2 Hp of power and 13.3 Nm of torque.

What is the Yamaha FZ-X?

While the leaked documents not only reveal the power specifications of the motorcycle but also the dimensions. The Yamaha FZ-X measures 2020mm in length, 785mm in width and 1115mm in height. The motorcycle comes with a  1330mm wheelbase and a gross vehicle weight of 289 kgs. Earlier the FZ-X was thought to be a 250cc adventure motorcycle. But new information leads us to believe that the FZ-X could be the same motorcycle that was spotted on the Yamuna Expressway recently.

The FZ-X could be based on the Yamaha FZ (150cc). While the measurements reveal that the FZ-X is longer, wider and taller than the FZ, the wheelbase remains the same. The engine specifications are also similar to the FZ(150). The motorcycle could also feature similar underpinnings such as telescopic front forks and a 7-step adjustable monoshock on the rear. The FZ-X is also likely to share the braking components and alloy wheels from the 150cc sibling. But there will be changes in the cosmetic department.

Yamaha XSR 150 or FZ-X?

If speculations are correct, the Yamaha motorcycle spotted on the Yamuna Expressway a few days back could be the FZ-X and not the XSR 150. The test mule featured fork boots, digital instruments cluster, a squared-off fuel tank and a boxy rear. The motorcycle is likely to come with multiple India-specific features suitable for both urban commutes and highway tours.

Price

The motorcycle is likely to come with a price tag of around the INR 1 lakh ex-showroom mark.
