TVS Motor Company has launched the 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V at the starting price of INR 1.07 lakh ex-showroom. Boffins at TVS have tuned the engine further so now it produces 17.63 PS of power 14.73 Nm torque, making it the ‘Most Powerful’ motorcycle in its class. The Apache RTR 160 4V has also been put through a diet and now tips the scales at 145 kg for the drum brake variant and 147 kg for the disc variant which is 2 kgs of reduced weight compared to the predecessor. The motorcycle’s design and styling remain the same, so do all the mechanical and powertrain components.
Engine
Powering the 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is a 159.7 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke 4-valve, air/oil-cooled engine that now belts out 17.63 PS of power at 9250 RPM and 14.73 Nm of torque at 7250 RPM. The engine comes with a 5-speed transmission. Powering the older model was the same 159.7cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled 4-stroke 4-valve engine but in its former state of tune, the engine made 16.02 PS of power and 14.12 Nm of torque and came with a power to weight ratio of 0.08 kW/kg.
Features
For 2021 the Apache RTR 160 4V gets a new dual-tone seat with a Carbon-Fibre finish and comes with LED headlamps and claw-shaped LED daytime running lamps. Other features such as the Glide-Through-Throttle technology, Digital racing console with multiple features, double-barrel exhaust are all retained.
Mechanical Features
The 2021 Apache RTR 160 4V comes with a patented racing synchro-stiff chassis that rides on telescopic front forks a Showa race-tuned rear monoshock suspension 270mm dia Petal Disc on the front with 130mm dia Drum or 200mm dia Petal Disc option on the rear equipped with a Super-Moto ABS.
Colours & Price
The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V will be available in three colour options – Knight Black, Metallic Blue and Racing Red. The Apache RTR 160 4V is available in two variant options – Disc priced at INR 110,320 ex-showroom, Delhi and Drum priced at INR 107,270 ex-showroom, Delhi. Even though the brand has increased the power output and painstakingly lowered 2 kgs of weight, surprisingly the price remains the same as the predecessor. Recently, TVS also launched the 2021 Apache RTR 200 4V with a Single-Channel ABS and riding modes at the price of INR 1.28 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
