Harley-Davidsion had revealed plans to introduce new generation motorcycles in the coming years to accelerate growth and also venture in new segments. Worlwide, the naked street bikes are becoming more and more popular because they are so versatile to use. Good on the streets, and even on the track. And hence, Harley-Davidson is also prepping a new streetfighter motorcycle which will go on sale mostly in 2020. Expect the bike to be revealed in production-ready guise at the 2019 INTERMOT or EICMA motorcycle shows.

Ahead of the official debut, pictures of the styling prototype of the Harley-Davidson Streetfighter have emerged on the internet. While the bike is seen in flesh, there are also optional accessories on display which give potential customers a hint at how they could make the bike more suitable to their riding profile / needs. The Harley-Davidson Streetfighter will be a rival to the likes of Ducati Monster, Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z900 and Suzuki GSX-S750. So expect pricing to be in the range of INR 8 – 12 lakh depending on the variants with varying kit available.

The Harley-Davidson Streetfighter is going to be launched with a 975cc, liquid-cooled, V-Twin engine. That is all the spec that we know at the moment. The bike will be built around a new modular platform which will be capable of housing engines ranging between 500cc – 1250cc. So yes, this chassis will also be tweaked to be used on the upcoming Pan America 1250 Adventure Tourer. In terms of power, we expect at least something in the range 100 PS from this motorcycle, and knowing Harley-Davidson, torque output could be best-in-class making it a very easy bike to ride around town.

Now, for years, motorcyclists have acknowledged Harley-Davidson as a cruiser manufacturer. It will be interesting to see how the market responds to such naked street bikes from the brand in the years of diversification with new strategies. Would you like to see a mix of motorcycle categories during HOG rides?
