Hyundai to reveal new EV concept car ’45’

Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Hyundai Kona is a hit globally with the long range battery pack which makes it quite a realistic electric car to be driven around by users. Also, the Nexo which is a hydrogen-powered SUV has gained quite some popularity for being unique in today’s date. Now, the South Korean manufacturer is set to reveal another fully-electric car concept at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019.

Hyundai calls this new EV car as『45』

The new electric vehicle which will become a milestone car for the future of EV designs will be having design cues paying tribute to the first Hyundai model from the 1970s. If the Hyundai Pony sedan is the car which will be the design inspiration, expect a notchback styling. This is almost confirmed from the teaser image which has been revealed hinting at a sloping rear end styling for this new EV.

The Hyundai Pony was a 4-door sedan, and the new EV concept will also be a similar 5-seater sedan. There is no detail available at the moment about the fuel cell / EV technology which will be used in the Hyundai 45. Hyundai claims that the new design will boast ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ to attract buyers. The Hyundai Pony back in the day had minimalistic styling, and in the future, similar designs might gain popularity again. The teaser image reveals eye-like LED tail lamp design, smoked lens housing for the tail lamps, windscreen mounted lip spoiler and flared wheel arches.

Well, this is just a concept for now. The real deal might by a year or two away from hitting the streets.

Hyundai in India have recently launched the all-new Grand i10 Nios which will co-exist with the old Grand i10. This family hatchback will be sold with a BSVI petrol engine and a diesel motor as well; both of which get an AMT automatic option.
