BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new S1000RR with the starting price of INR 18.50 lakh ex-showroom, India. The all-new flagship offering from the German brand gets a completely new design as well as mechanical changes and comes with a newly developed chassis and suspension. The new S1000RR will come in three variants – Standard, Pro and Pro M Sport and it will be the first bike to feature the BMW ‘M’ package.
The all-new S1000RR will be available in two colour variants –
- Light White/Lupin Blue Metallic/ Racing Red
- Racing Red
The powertrain on the new S1000RR is a 999cc Liquid/Oil-Cooled 4-cylinder 4-stroke in-line engine with four titanium valves per cylinder and BMW ShiftCam technology. The engine develops 207 HP of power @ 13,500 RPM and 113 Nm of torque @ 11,000 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch. The fuel delivery system is through a variable intake electronic fuel injection system. The new engine is 4 kg lighter than the predecessor.
In terms of styling and features, the S1000RR is a fully-faired super-sport motorcycle, the new motorcycle has a sleeker and has a more compact design. BMW has axed the signature asymmetrical headlights present on the predecessor to make way for the new sleek LED projector headlamps and the bike also gets LED tail lamps, LED indicators, dynamic brake light, multi-controller for the dashboard etc. The dynamic package includes heated grips, Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), Cruise Control and the M Package includes Carbon fibre wheels, M Sport seat, M Lightweight battery, Motorsport colours which help the bike shed 3.5 kg from the standard bike which weighs 197 kg (unladen).
The electronics package includes four riding modes – Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and in addition to this, for the race tracks, it features freely programable, Riding Modes Pro – 3 riding modes: Race Pro 1-3, pit limiter, launch control, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), wheelie control, ABS Pro, 6.5-inch full-colour TFT instruments console with Bluetooth connectivity, +/- Shift Assist Pro, Hill Start Assist, and adjustable engine braking control.
The all-new BMW S1000RR will available as a completely built unit (CBU) in India and the bookings have opened from today onwards at all BMW Motorrad dealerships. The all-new S1000RR will rival the likes of Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R, Ducati Panigale V4, Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and other litre-class superbikes.
