Mahindra & Zoomcar have announced that they will be offering electric vehicles for shared mobility solutions in the national capital. Mahindra will be handing over 100 e2oPlus EVs to Zoomcar for their platform in Delhi.
This initiative in sync with the NITI Aayog for the governments 2030 vision. Delhi government has been very supportive when it comes to using electric vehicles in a bid to reduce pollution levels.
Zoomcar has received customised EV financing schemes from Mahindra Finance for these 100 e2oPlus EVs added to their fleet.
The primary problem which will still remain is the range of these electric cars. The e2oPlus offers nearly 80-90 km of range per full charge, and that will limit customers from moving out of the city, unless they know that there is a charging facility available. Also, the time taken to charge the e2oPlus varies, if there is no fast charging setup available. So although a good initiative, it will take time to see if customers prefer the electric powered cars over conventional gasoline and oil burners.
The e2oPlus has been having a tough time finding buyers, thanks to its astronomical price tag. Although it feels far superior to its older generation, the Indian market is still not evolved enough to appreciate such a package, and especially at this price.
