Yamaha has unveiled the new 2019 YZF-R125 in a race bike inspired livery for the European Market. The bike has the livery matching the Monster Energy Moto GP team motorcycles ridden by Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.  The YZF-R125 is popular among the entry-level motorcyclists as it conforms to the A1 license norms, which enables them to ride a motorcycle powered by up to a 125cc engine, in Europe. Yamaha launched their R-series small capacity bikes more than 10 years ago and they have been one of their best sellers.

The exterior of the latest generation YZF-R125 is inspired and is a scaled down version of its litre-class brother, YZF-R1. The bike boasts a race type ram-air duct in between the sleek LED headlights, step-up seats and 17-inch light weight alloy wheels. The cockpit is inspired by the MotoGP YZR-M1 and is a fully digital unit.

Under the skin is a 124.7cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, single-cylinder, SOHC engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) that produces 15.0 PS of power and 12.40 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper assisted clutch. The engine is wrapped around an all-new deltabox chassis with revised geometry and a new aluminium swingarm. The bike is equipped with 41mm upside-down front fork, a link type rear monoshock suspension on swingarm, high spec floating 292mm front disc with a radially mounted caliper on the front and a 230mm single hydraulic disc on the rear wheel. The motorcycle has an 11.5 litre fuel tank and weighs 142 kg (kerb).

In India, Yamaha sells a more powerful iteration in the R-series, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 which is in its 3rd generation and is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, single-cylinder, SOHC engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) that produces 19.3 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper assist clutch. Though it has more grunt, the YZF-R15 lacks in the hardware department and is justified by the price.

In India, Yamaha YZF-R15 is sold in three colours:-

  • Racing Blue
  • Thunder Grey
  • Darknight

The Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3 is available in India at the price of INR 1,41,680.
