India Yamaha Motor has discontinued the Yamaha YFZ R3 and the motorcycle has been removed from the brand’s website listing. Though all other motorcycles from the brand have successfully transitioned from BS4 to BS6, the Yamaha YZF R3 missed out on the upgrade and had to discontinued.
The Yamaha YZF R3 was launched in India a couple of years back and though the motorcycle got an upgrade in the global market last year, the engine has not been updated and still remains sub BS6 standards. The Yamaha YZF R3 is powered by a 321cc liquid-cooled, inline twin-cylinder 8 valves DOHC fuel-injected engine with 68.0mm bore and 44.1mm of stroke that produces 41 hp of power and 29.6 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox.
The internationally updated motorcycle gets new styling in terms of bodywork and new graphics. The new motorcycle gets its design inspiration from the MotoGP YZR M1 and gets an improved aerodynamic cross-layered fairing with a central air duct that maximises cooling performance, sleeker & shaper LED headlight units, angular fuel tank which sits slightly lower and combined with lowered handlebars that allow aggressive rider positioning.
The updated YZF R3 also gets upgraded cycle parts and is armed with new 37mm upside-down forks that have been optimized for day to day use along with sporty rigidity and front end feedback. The rear gets a centrally mounted monoshock that offers a balance between urban commutes and weekend track days. The stopping power comes from 298mm single disc brake on the front and a 220mm single disc on the rear equipped with an Antilock Braking System (ABS).
While the brand has not made any official announcement about the new Yamaha YZF R3 coming to the Indian streets, but it is expected to be introduced in the Indian market in 2021 with a new engine upgrade.
