Retro or classic is the new cool. Customers these days want to have not just a bike that gets them from point A to point B, but also consider its looks. This Yamaha combines the past and the present with the design being of classic nature and the powertrain and other features being modern and functional.

So what’s new for the XSR700 Legacy?

Yamaha has retained the SXR700’s round LED headlamp, large fuel tank, one-piece seat and the rear mudguard. But the Legacy gets added protection for the headlamp, a revised seat layout and a new handlebar. It is also offered with a unique paint scheme of grey and blacked-out bits. The alloys are finished in a golden shade.

Other features include LED lighting, LCD with speedometer, odometer, tachometer, trip meter and fuel level gauge. It also has a gear position indicator. The suspension of the XSR700 Legacy consists of gaitered telescopic front forks and a linked rear shock. Braking duties are handled by twin 298 mm discs at the front and a 245 mm single disc at the back. The bike rides on 17-inch alloys shod in 120/70-section front and 180/55-section block pattern tyres.

The Legacy variant has gained 2kg and now weighs 190 kg. It also has a seat height of 855 mm, which is 20 mm higher than the standard version.

XSR700 Legacy Edition Engine and Transmission

Yamaha has retained the same engine for the Legacy Edition. It is a 698cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder that puts out 72.3 BHP and a peak torque of 47.6 Nm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
