Yamaha reveals beautiful looking XSR900 GP special edition

Yamaha has taken the wraps off a limited-edition gem for motorcycle enthusiasts – the XSR900 GP. This modern retro motorcycle pays homage to Yamaha’s illustrious racing history and iconic models from the past.

Design and Inspiration

The XSR900 GP stands out with its custom race paint job, meticulously crafted by Yamaha’s various teams. Here’s a glimpse of the inspiration behind each design:

  • Yamaha Italy: Celebrating the 1996 Suzuka 8-hour endurance race victory, they used the YZF750 as their canvas.
  • France Tribute: A white and blue bike reminiscent of the 1984 winning bike – the TZ250.
  • UK Homage: The yellow and purple version pays tribute to Eddie Lawson’s 1993 Daytona 200 victory on the FZR750R.
  • European Team: A nod to 13-time 500cc Grand Prix race winner Randy Mamola and his 1987 YZR500 race bike.

Exclusivity and Pricing

Only 11 units of the XSR900 GP will be available in the European market. While they come with a premium price tag, their historical significance and exclusivity make them irresistible to collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Whether you’re a racing aficionado or simply appreciate timeless design, the XSR900 GP is a blend of 80s nostalgia and modern technology. Yamaha has truly turned the nostalgia dial up to 11 with this special edition.

Powertrain & Features

XSR900 GP is powered by a 890 cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that produces 119 PS @ 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm @ 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

It also gets a 5-inch full colour TFT display, adjustable KYB suspension, new clip-on handlebars, delta-box chassis, Yamaha ride control with 6-axis IMU, cruise control, quick shifter with slip and assist clutch, Yamaha Spin-forged wheels with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport tyres, and many more features.

Sadly, this historical masterpiece won’t be coming to India given the limited numbers and exclusivity to the European market. Nonetheless it is a good-looking motorcycle that most enthusiasts will appreciate.
