Yamaha recently launched the new R15S V3.0 with a Unibody seat. The brand now retails the Yamaha R15 V3, R15S V3 and R15 V4 in the Indian market. The R15S V3 is the latest addition to the successful R15 portfolio. Interestingly both the R15 V3 and R15S V3 come with precisely the same starting price tag. However, the Yamaha R15 V4, which is the latest iteration, is INR 13,200 dearer than the R15 V3 and R15S V3. Let’s check out what is different in the latest Yamaha R15S V3 Unibody compared to the recently launched Yamaha R15 V4.
The Yamaha R15S V3 comes with a starting price tag of INR 157,600 ex-showroom. The brand offers only a single Racing Blue colour option on the Yamaha R15S V3. On the other hand, the Yamaha R15 V4 comes with a starting price tag of INR 170,800 ex-showroom. The brand offers the motorcycle with Metallic Red red colour for the price as mentioned earlier. The Dark Knight (Gloss Black) colour option comes with a price tag of INR 171,800 ex-showroom. The Racing Blue colour option comes with a price tag of INR 175,800 ex-showroom.
The new Yamaha R15S V3 comes with a new Unibody seat. The new seat offers a much more comfortable ride to the pillion allowing the supersport motorcycle to be used daily and not just as a track weapon. The seat has been ergonomically designed and offers comfort to the rider as well. The seat is broader and angular as well as smoother and offers a better riding experience.
The R15 V4, on the other hand, comes with dual-level seating, which is true to Yamaha’s racing legacy. The dual-level seat on the R15 V4 offers a sporty riding experience and race-bike-like ergonomics, focusing on performance. The dual-level seat also offers a racing stance and allows the rider to tuck behind the windscreen at high speeds easily.
The Yamaha R15S V3 is based on the R15 V3, which comes with dual split headlamps on the front and a bubble windscreen. The new R15 V4 comes with a monocular headlamp recessed into the ram air intake like front fascia, and eyebrow-like LED DRLs flanking the sides of the fascia. The brand also claims to have enhanced the aerodynamic coefficient of the R15 V4. Both motorcycles also differ in terms of the fairings and the fuel tank design.
Both the Yamaha R15S V3 and R15 V4 come with the same mechanical features. The motorcycles also feature the exact dimensions, and there are no changes to the chassis and engine. The Yamaha R15S V3 and R15 V4 come with a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The engine on the Yamaha R15S V3 produces 18.6 PS of power and 14.1 Nm of torque. The same motor on the R15 V4 produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque.
Thanks to the VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology the engine offers a balance between performance and efficiency. The brand also offers the same Deltabox chassis and suspension setup. However, the R15 V4 features higher specification electronics such as traction control and quickshifter.
