Yamaha appears to be hinting at the launch of the much-anticipated XSR 155 in the Indian market. This speculation has been fueled by recent teasers and promotional content from Yamaha India, which prominently feature the XSR 155 alongside other international models.
The Yamaha XSR 155 is not just another motorcycle; it’s a blend of retro charm and modern performance. Drawing inspiration from its larger siblings, the XSR 700 and XSR 900, the XSR 155 boasts a neo-retro design that appeals to both young riders and seasoned bikers. Its teardrop-shaped fuel tank, round LED headlamp, and minimalist bodywork give it a timeless look that stands out in the crowd.
Underneath its classic exterior, the XSR 155 shares its platform with the popular Yamaha R15. It is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch, ensuring smooth and responsive gear shifts.
The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with block-pattern tires, providing excellent grip and stability. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, offering a balanced and comfortable ride. The XSR 155 also comes equipped with dual disc brakes and dual-channel ABS, ensuring safety and control in various riding conditions.
Yamaha’s recent promotional video, part of their ‘Call of the Blue’ campaign, has sparked excitement among Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. The video showcases a range of models, including the XSR 155, hinting at its imminent arrival in India. While Yamaha has not officially confirmed the launch date, the inclusion of the XSR 155 in their promotional content suggests that the company is seriously considering bringing this model to Indian shores.
If launched, the XSR 155 will compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and the TVS Ronin.
While there is no official word on the pricing yet, industry experts speculate that the Yamaha XSR 155 could be priced around INR 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
