Yamaha Motor India, through its social media channel, has revealed a new teaser. The new teaser, which has a large ‘X’ mark, leads us to believe that the Japanese bike manufacturer plans to bring a new maxi-scooter to India. Yamaha could be planning to bring the Aerox 155 maxi scooter to the Indian market. When launched, the Aerox 155 will become the first maxi-scooter from team Blue in India. Currently, there are only a handful of maxi-scooters in the Indian market. The Aerox 155 with the Yamaha YZF-R15 derived engine will become one of the most powerful scooters in India.
Powering the Aerox 155 is a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-stroke engine. The engine produces 18.5 PS of power on the Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 03. But the CVT automatic scooter makes 15.4 PS of power and 13.9 Nm of torque. The Aerox 155 also features VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology, similar to the R15. On top of that, the scooter also gets a Smart Motor Generator and Stop and Start System. While the Aerox 155 produces 3.1 PS less power than the R15 V3, the scooter is also 17 kgs lighter than the motorcycle.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 measures 1980mm in length, 700mm in width, 1150mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 1350mm. The scooter also gets 145mm of ground clearance and an approachable 790mm of saddle height. To put things into perspective, its prime competitor, the Aprilia SXR 160, measures 1953mm in length, 800mm in width and a wheelbase of 1349mm.
The Yamaha Aeroz 155 comes with features such as Smart Key with keyless ignition. The scooter also comes with LED headlights, LED position lights and LED taillights. Yamaha also offers features such as a full LCD digital dashboard with Y-Connect and an electric power socket to charge the smartphone. The maxi scooter also gets a large under-seat storage space which claims to fit an XL size full-face helmet.
