Ford already sells the new generation Mustang in international markets and is also planning to bring it down to India. The new generation was definitely ought to bring up something new, but not something what others weren’t expecting.
The new Mustang has been equipped with the world’s first glove box knee airbag.
What Ford has done here is that they replaced the traditional passenger front airbag from the dashboard panel to the lid of the glove box.
Advantages? Well, it has freed up knee room for the passengers. Other benefits include the construction of the airbag which is being totally made up from plastic rather than textile fibre that is used for traditional airbags. This has led to a whopping 65% weight reduction of the airbag which will definitely improve the economy of the new Mustang. Also, the quality saw no compromise and thus the safety is similar to any other ‘normal’ airbag.
This new technology has already got 23 patents in its name.
Also, the US North American authorities have certified the new Mustang as the safest vehicle to be on roads with a total of 8 airbags inside the cabin. Ford has been working hard to increase the safety measures which clearly could be seen in the launch of the new Figo range (which gets dual front airbags standard across the range).
So, there is lot more to happen but surely for the good of humans.
