Kawasaki displayed the pure off-road KLX 150 BF at the India Bike Week 2022. Does this mean that the Japanese bike maker is considering launching the bike in India?
The KLX 150 BF is nothing but a slim off-road ready motorcycle. It gets a one-piece seat, squarish halogen headlamp along with high fenders for the front and rear wheels. In terms of ruggedness, it gets a bash plate, along with handlebars guards for added protection. The exhaust design features a steeply upswept end can for that much extra clearance when off-roading.
On the suspension front, Kawasaki has equipped the bike with a long-travel upside-down front shock absorber while the rear gets a monoshock. The braking duties are handled by a single petal disc at the front and a rear disc. The knobby tyres are mounted on wire-spoke rims for off-roading.
In terms of engine, as the name implies, the KLX 150 BF gets a 144cc single-cylinder air cooled engine. The four-stroke engine develops a peak power of 11 BHP and the maximum torque is 11.3 Nm. It sends power to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox.
In terms of pricing, we can expect it to be priced at a minimum of INR 2,00,000. The reason is that the same bike is sold for PHP 132,000 in the Philippines. This translates to INR 1,93,000 approximately.
Meanwhile, Kawasaki has offered significant discounts on two of its bikes on sale in India. These include the W800 and the Z650. Kawasaki is giving a voucher worth 35,000 on the Z650, while the Kawasaki W800 will come with a discount of INR 1,25,000.
Just last month, Kawasaki had also launched the 2023 Ninja 650 at an ex-showroom price of INR 7,12,00.
