Tata Safari Storme GS800, or as the official term stands – General Service 800 was spotted in Mumbai. But this time, it was not the military spec 4×4 SUV painted in green, but was seen in a pearl white body colour. These cars however had similar exterior features to the military version. Tata Motors has already bagged a contract to provide the Indian Armed Forces with Safari Storme GS800 4×4 SUVs.
The Safari Storme GS800 has a payload capacity of over 800 kg, comes with a hard roof unlike the old Maruti Gypsy cars, air conditioning, trailer hook at the rear, radio antenna on the bonnet, auxiliary lights at the front and back, a rack on the rear left quarter panel and GS800 badging.
The Safari Storme was launched in 2012. But, this SUV which carries the iconic Safari nameplate hasn’t really managed to sell in high numbers. It is powered by a 2.2L, 4-cylinder motor producing 156 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. It can be driven in 4×2 and 4×4 driving modes with the electronic shift-on-fly technology.
