Looks like TVS is looking to launch a new motorcycle in the market. According to the trademark registry, the Apache RTX name has been filed. This filing was done by Sundaram Clayton Limited, which is a part of the TVS group.
It has been widely known that TVS is working on a new 300 cc naked motorcycle. This will be nothing but a street fighter version of the Apache RR 310. Hence, this bike could come with LED lights, aggressive styling and will target the younger generation.
As this bike heads closer to production, it is likely that TVS is looking for an official name. Before finalising the name, TVS could have trademarked one of the potential names. The Apache RTX could be one of them. Further, even if the bike maker has no immediate plans to use this name, a trademarked name will come in handy at a later point of time.
There is no adventure bike currently in the Hosur-based bike maker’s portfolio. But, the company could build a new adventure bike based on the BMW G 310 GS. This could get the RTX name. So TVS currently has two bikes under planning based on the 310 platform. One of these could get the Apache RTX name
The 312cc engine develops 33.5 BHP and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch.
In other news, TVS is reportedly working on a new cruiser bike. According to leaked patent images, the bike appears to get a conventional styling. We can see the front side of the new bike. The cruiser gets a larger engine. This could mean that TVS is working on its largest displacement motor so far. It is unclear from the images if the engine is a single cylinder unit or a twin-cylinder setup. There is a single large exhaust pipe which is adding to the muscularity of the cruiser bike.
