2020 BS6 Honda WR-V facelift bookings open, available in petrol & diesel

Honda commenced the pre-launch bookings on the upcoming Honda WR-V crossover SUV that is based on the Honda Jazz hatchback. But because of the ongoing lockdown imposed by the Government of India to contain the spread of the COVID-19 / CoronaVirus pandemic the launch plans for the WR-V have been delayed further and the brand is expected to launch the facelift WR-V as soon as the health situation in the country normalises.

Honda has meanwhile updated the official website with key highlights of the upcoming facelift WR-V. The pictures reveal the new facelifted front fascia with a new bold grille design that departs from the mesh grille on the predecessor and now comes with a horizontally slated design treated in gloss black with a thick chrome bar and slightly refreshed bumper crease lines.

The headlamps receive new 3D inserts and come with LED projector headlamp units with integrated LED daytime running lights and position lamps and refreshed inserts on the rounded foglights. The tail lamps also receive an update and now come with a C-shaped LED combination unit.

The Honda WR-V retains all the elements when viewed from the profile and features muscular wheels arches with plastic claddings, a character line on its shoulder, alloy wheels, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, silver roof rails, a one-touch electric sunroof and rock guards on the lower parts of the doors.

On the interiors, the facelift WR-V is likely to retain the design and styling of the predecessor with minor changes to its dashboard colour and tweaks to the seat upholstery. The WR-V is likely to continue with a centrally mounted 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features, control mounted steering wheel, cruise control, push-button start/stop, analogue instrumentation with digital multi-information display, power-folding ORVMs etc.

The BS6 engine will be available in both the petrol and diesel options and is likely to produce more or less the same power as the outgoing BS4 model. The WR-V is expected to come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90 ps of power and 110 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 99 ps of power and 200 Nm of torque.

The petrol model is likely to be offered in two trim variants – S and VX while the diesel offering is likely to have three trims – S, V and VX owing to the higher demand of the WR-V in the diesel guise.

The petrol Honda WR-V is estimated to be priced between INR 8.5 lakh and 9.5 lakh while the diesel WR-V is expected to be priced around the INR 9.8 lakh to 10.8 lakh mark.
