Volkswagen India has launched the BS6 compliant petrol engines across its Polo and Vento model range with the Polo prices starting at INR 5.82 Lakhs ex-showroom and the Vento priced starting from INR 8.86 Lakhs ex-showroom. The Volkswagen Polo is now equipped with the brand’s new BS6 compliant MPI (Multipoint fuel Injection) and TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) mills from the EA 211 engine family.
The 1.2-litre TSI engine will be scrapped in favour of the new BS6 emissions-compliant 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 110 hp of power and 170 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox depending upon the variant. The 1.0-litre TSI engine is not just smaller in terms of engine displacement but according to the brand it is lighter, more powerful and efficient.
The updated car remains the same in terms of its styling and interior equipment except for a new heat-insulating glass that helps maintain the cabin temperature hence increasing fuel efficiency. The Polo and the Vento feature near-identical interiors only with changes to its trim treatment and upholstery. Both feature a controls-mounted flat bottomed steering wheel, analogue instrument cluster with a digital multi-information display in between, a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard with connectivity features, climate control air-conditioning, a central armrest with storage spots etc.
The BS6 Polo line-up will be available with a 1.0-litre MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission offered on the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline+ trim variants priced between INR 5.82 Lakh – INR 7.80 Lakh ex-showroom. The Polo with the 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission is made available on the Highline+ and the range-topping GT Line priced between INR 8.02 lakh – 9.59 Lakh ex-showroom.
The BS6 Vento line-up is offered with a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed manual offered on the Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Highline+ trims priced between INR 8.86 Lakh – 11.99 Lakh ex-showroom, while the 6-speed automatic is offered on the Highline and Highline+ trim variants priced between INR 12.09 Lakh – 13.29 Lakh ex-showroom.
