Volvo XC90 SUV gets a facelift

Written by News Team

The Volvo XC90, a flagship model in the luxury SUV segment, has received a significant facelift for the 2025 model year. This update marks the second major refresh since the XC90’s debut a decade ago, bringing a host of cosmetic and technological enhancements aimed at keeping the vehicle competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

Exterior Enhancements

The 2025 Volvo XC90’s exterior has been subtly yet effectively updated to align more closely with its all-electric counterpart, the EX90. The most noticeable change is the redesigned front fascia, featuring a new grille with intricate slanted blinds forming a V-shape at the Volvo badge. This design is complemented by a modern take on the Thor’s Hammer headlights, which are now slimmer and better defined.

The rear of the vehicle also sees updates with new taillights that feature an updated light signature. Additionally, the XC90 now sports new wheel designs that enhance its overall aesthetic appeal.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the XC90 continues to prioritize comfort and safety, hallmarks of the Volvo brand. The dashboard has been redesigned to be taller and more horizontal, providing a more spacious feel. The 11.2-inch infotainment touchscreen now has a free-standing, floating look, enhancing the modernity of the cabin.

Volvo has also improved the center console, offering new storage solutions and incorporating more textured, soft-touch materials throughout the interior. The cabin now features additional ambient lighting, further enhancing the luxurious atmosphere.

Technological Advancements

The facelifted XC90 is equipped with the latest in automotive technology. The infotainment system has been upgraded to include the latest software seen in the EX30 and EX90 models. Despite these advancements, Volvo has retained physical controls below the touchscreen, ensuring ease of use for drivers.

The vehicle also benefits from new standard dampers that adapt to road conditions, providing an improved ride quality. The previously available air suspension remains an option for those seeking an even smoother driving experience.

Powertrain Options

Volvo continues to offer a range of powertrain options for the XC90. The lineup includes the B5 and B6 models, which feature gasoline engines supplemented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and the Recharge model, which is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). These options ensure that the XC90 caters to a variety of customer preferences, from traditional combustion engines to more eco-friendly alternatives.

Market Position and Availability

The 2025 Volvo XC90 is set to hit the market with a starting price of $59,745 for the base model, which is slightly higher than its predecessor. Initial deliveries of the facelifted XC90 are expected to begin at the end of 2024, with the vehicle available for order starting 5th September. Currently, there is no news of the facelifted version coming to India. However, we should expect to see it here towards the end of the year or early next year.
