Semiconductor Chip Shortage – A Global Phenomenon

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the manufacturing and logistics department in both 2020 and the first half of 2021. The surge of the semiconductor chips in the automotive industry and the global electronics market led to an acute shortage. This even led auto majors like Ford to completely shut down production for several days. Semiconductors are used in the latest generation telematics and infotainments systems, sim-based connected technology, electronic control units etc. The chips are also an integral part of laptops, tablet PCs, desktops, gaming consoles, mobile phones etc.
