Volvo is planning to develop a new compact-SUV to rival the BMW X1 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class in the near future.
The company is looking at launching this new product within 4 years and it will slot in between the V40 Cross Country and the XC60 SUV. This new compact-SUV will be based on the V40 Cross Country and is expected to be named as the XC40. Volvo has also revealed that by 2020, they will have a sedan, a crossover and a SUV in the 40, 60 and 90 product range each.
It will be based on a new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform and will be shared by more smaller car models which will come up in the future.
Engines are expected to be the new Drive-E range offered in both 2WD and 4WD options.
There is no specific launch date shared, but an Indian debut is likely one it is launched in the international markets.
