VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, showcased its range of future-ready mobility solutions. In line with the Government of India’s visions of sustainable, efficient and affordable logistics, the commercial vehicle leaders showcased modern Indian logistics and solutions. These included VECV’s smart sustainability, under which the company had its electric and Natural Gas line-up, a range of alternate fuel prototypes, and more.
Eicher Motors had on display the country’s longest 13.5-meter electric Intercity Coach. Also displayed was the Eicher Pro 2049 electric truck. It has a gross vehicle weight of 4.9 tons. The electric truck has been tailor-made for economical and clean last-mile transportation requirements.
The Eicher Pro 8055 LNG/CNG truck was on display for the long haul operation. It will manage long-range thanks to LNG, while the truck can transition to CNG with a flick of a switch enabling running on CNG. This truck will be able to leverage the ever-expanding CNG network.
VECV also displayed the prototype Eicher Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck and Hydrogen ICE engine. These are future technologies that will help offer zero tailpipe emissions.
Volvo had two vehicles on display – the Volvo FM LNG 4024 4X2 tractor and the 15m long Volvo 9600 luxury bus. The Volvo FM LNG is undergoing field trials with e-commerce operators in India. The Volvo truck uses a unique LNG solution based on diesel-cycle technology. It is claimed to offer a 15-20 percent improvement in fuel economy compared to petrol or Otto-cycle tech.
The Volvo 9600 bus was configured with First Class Seating to provide an exclusive travel experience.
All the Eicher and Volvo trucks and buses come with connectivity solutions. They include an industry-first 100% connected fleet along with an Uptime Centre. It is said that these App-based solutions will help fleet owners with higher productivity, along with higher efficiency for trucks, buses, drivers as well fleet managers.
