Volvo revealed the XC40 Recharge last year and the brand is committed to bringing cars with electrified powertrains around the globe and India is no exception. The brand is also likely to phase out conventional powertrains and focus more on electrified powertrains in the future.
Now a media report suggests that Volvo is considering to bring the XC40 Recharge to the Indian market. The brand has already launched the pure electric car, in the international market and has received a good response. Though the Indian market is still evolving and a suitable ecosystem for the electric-powered car are being developed major manufacturers around the globe are racing to launch their electric products in the Indian market.
The Volvo XC40 is underpinned by the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform that is flexible enough to accommodate both the internal combustion engine as well as fully electric powertrains. The XC40 Recharge is powered by twin electric motors one on the front axle and another on the rear axle that produces 408 Hp of power and 659 Nm of torque paired with a 78 kWh battery pack that provides 400 Km of range and it can fast-charge from zero to 80% in around 40 minutes and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.9 secs.
In terms of its design and styling the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric features a closed front apron with air intakes on the lower part of the bumper, fog lamps that flank the bumper, LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, raised bonnet ridges, window line that tapers at the back, aerodynamic alloy wheels, LED tail lamps etc.
The first model from Volvo in the Indian market came in the form of the Plug-in Hybrid Volvo XC90 which is assembled at the brand’s manufacturing facility near Bengaluru India. To keep its price in check, the XC40 Recharge is also expected to be assembled at the same plant, if it arrives in the Indian market, in the near future.
